Pluto, a darkly comic roguelike deckbuilder, has been released on Steam today. Available on PC, Pluto was developed by Siege Wizard Interactive and published by indi.io. In Pluto, we follow a wizard imprisoned for magical crimes who awakens from an arcane slumber to a single, urgent mission: make it to his niece’s birthday party on time. Escape won’t be graceful. He must carve a path through cursed ruins, suffocating forests, and forgotten crypts crawling with grotesque, vaguely tragic monstrosities. Burn enemies into charred remains as jailors relentlessly pursue the wizard through corridors slick with magical fallout.

Releasing just today, Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse is new to the scene and comes with lots of witchy charm. Developed by Frontside 180 and Published by Pocketpair Inc., Never Grave is a Metroidvania x roguelite platformer set in a fantastical world where a curse has wiped out a nearby village. You, a cursed hat (yes, a hat) must utilise possession and magic to destroy your enemies and re-build the village. So, that cute anime girl in the header? Yeah, you’re the hat. Despite my complete lack of skill holding me back, I was thoroughly enchanted with Never Grave and cannot wait to fully complete this game. Is Never Grave for you? Read along to find out.

On this episode of Hype from Outer Heaven, join Kyle, Brandon, Caleb and Prince as they discuss long-dormant franchises that are in desperate need of a reboot. Franchises like Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Legacy of Kain, SOCOM: US Navy Seals etc. are just a few examples of once prolific franchises that have been left at the side of the road. Is it due to a lack of interest? or has the very nature of gaming changed, with investors and publishers not giving long-dead franchises the time of day based on the fact that they would be a financial gamble? If so, they usually end up in development purgatory and eventually cancelled (such is the case of Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun) or doomed to the realm of mediocrity with a chewed up and spat out mobile game that has all the depth and charisma of a jellied eel. From Prince’s love for Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia, to Kyle’s somewhat overlong fanboying for the Legacy of Kain franchise and calls for it’s return, and Caleb’s worry of the return of Duke Nukem in the current political climate, the lads engage in a debate about their forgotten franchises they would like to see return, whilst coming to terms that they’ll all be nearly forty or over by the time The Elder Scrolls VI releases.
